Foreclosure Timeline

Here is the approximate minimum timeframe for the foreclosure of a Bakersfield property.
 

Day 1:  Notice of Default is recorded.

Day 14:  Notice of Default must be mailed to the borrower 10 days after it is recorded.

Day 91:  Notice of Trustee’s Sale is recorded, published and mailed (lenders will usually file 31 days before the sale due to IRS notice requirements).

Day 115:  Deadline to cure default (you will have up until five days before the trustee’s sale).

Day 122:  Trustee’s Sale (the deadline to pay off the loan will be any time before the trustee’s sale starts).
